A close look inside the uterine cavity
Diagnostic hysteroscopy uses a slim, lighted telescope passed through the cervix to directly examine the inside of the uterus, without any abdominal incision. It is one of the most precise ways to investigate abnormal uterine bleeding, recurrent miscarriage, or suspected polyps and fibroids projecting into the cavity.
When it's recommended
- Abnormal or postmenopausal bleeding
- Suspected uterine polyps, fibroids, or scarring on ultrasound
- Recurrent pregnancy loss or difficulty conceiving
The procedure is quick, usually well tolerated with minimal or no anaesthesia required, and often doubles as a treatment step if a small abnormality is found and removed in the same visit.
