How this site is funded
Running a site like this costs money: hosting, tooling, and clinician time for writing and review. That cost is covered by third-party display advertising, principally Google AdSense. There is no charge to read anything here and no paywall.
Advertising does not influence content
Advertisers have no role in what we publish. They do not choose topics, do not see articles before publication, cannot request changes, and cannot have content removed. No article is written in exchange for payment. If that ever changes for a particular piece, it will be labelled clearly as sponsored at the top of the page, before you read it.

- We do not choose, review or endorse the individual ads that appear.
- An advertisement is not a recommendation, and the appearance of a product, clinic or service here does not mean we vouch for it.
- Ads are kept clearly separate from articles and are never styled to look like our content, our navigation or our links.

You may occasionally see ads for health-related products or services.
