Combined removal of the fallopian tube and ovary
This procedure removes both the fallopian tube and ovary on one or both sides in a single laparoscopic operation. It is commonly performed alongside hysterectomy, or independently for ovarian masses, tubo-ovarian abscesses, or as part of cancer risk-reduction strategies.
Typical indications
- Combined ovarian and tubal disease
- Tubo-ovarian abscess not responding to antibiotics
- Prophylactic removal in genetically high-risk patients
As with oophorectomy, hormonal implications are discussed in advance, particularly for premenopausal patients.
